San Francisco

January 17-18, 2018
Wednesday & Thursday

This trip to San Francisco was a very last minute idea. My mom had left to Guadalajara for a week and I was suppose to go with her, but last minute I decided not to go because of personal reasons. And since I had missed out on that trip, I decided to make up for it and go up north to San Francisco. My boyfriend has never been there so I decided that it was a perfect opportunity to go.

Wednesday

We woke up early and left my house at 4 a.m. My boyfriend drove the first 3 1/2 hours while I slept and I drove the other 3 1/2 hours. We arrived around 10:30 a.m. to San Francisco and for our first stop we decided to go to Andytown Coffee Roasters in the Sunset District.

(you can read a separate blog post on Andytown Coffee Roasters under the food & drink category)

After our coffee break, we decided to head over to Union Square to do a little shopping.

After a couple of hours of shopping, we decided to grab some food and go to Alamo Square. As we ate, we enjoyed the sight of the famous Painted Ladies and of downtown SF in the background.

Since my boyfriend was pretty tired, we decided to go check in at the inn we were going to stay at.

Tired of driving, we decided to walk around and see what we would find. The inn’s location was centered around lots of shops, restaurants, and bars; we were even minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and Lombard St.

We walked around, did some shopping until the sun set, and decided to head back to rest.

Thursday

The next day we woke up to a cold and foggy day, checked out and left to catch our boat for the Alcatraz tour.

(I will be posting a separate blog post on Alcatraz soon)

We lasted on the island for about 3 hours, but we enjoyed every bit of it. Because of the fog, we couldn’t see Downtown San Francisco from the island or the Golden Gate Bridge. And as each hour passed by the rain fell harder on us.  So, we decided to go see the Golden Gate Bridge and see if the weather would clear up a bit.

I had to stand by for a couple of minutes to capture this shot since the fog would be covering all of it most of the time. And while we were waiting, the rain came down even harder. Disappointed, we decided to head back home since it was almost impossible to do or see anything outdoors.

We really didn’t get to see or do everything we had planned to do and I was quite disappointed by that. We figured that we needed at least a day or two more out there to be able to see everything we want to see. But, for a quick trip like this one we got to see some of the highlights of San Francisco. We will be heading back with more time and hopefully better weather.
